Arabic and Tajweed Classes

Realising that learning Arabic and tajweed are an obligation on all Muslims, AMCA has successfully launched its Arabic and Tajweed classes for ladies during week days in the morning.  These classes are free of charge and pertinent books are provided.  You do not need to be a proficient Arabic speaker to join our classes.  An Arabic speaker, who is fluent in English, runs these classes to ensure that students can fully communicate with their tutor.

As Arabic is necessary to be able to read the Quran, classes aim at teaching Arabic and then moving into Tajweed. The lessons are aimed at taking students step by step until they become confident enough to read the Quran by themselves.  At these classes, students read directly from the Quran to ensure that the student is practicing all the rules at first hand.  Not only this, but the classes aim at explaining the meanings of the Quran.

Please note that these classes do not give Ijaza, a certificate to state that the student has recited the whole Quran precisely with Tajweed rules.  However, they aim at helping non- Arabic speakers as well as beginners acquire the basics on which they can build their skills further.

Currently the classes are conducted every Thursday from 11:00-12:30pm.

The Prophet (saw) said: The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it. (Bukhari).

Storytime Sessions (Currently on hold)

Since 2009, we have been working hard to explain the teachings of the Quran and its endless provisions. Realizing the importance of familiarising our kids with the Quran, storytime was launched for kids.

Storytime are sessions aimed at recounting the different stories mentioned in the Quran including those of the prophets from Adam (AS) down to Prophet Muhammed (Peace be Upon Him), people that came before us, creation of man and universe and many others.

As the majority are non- Arabic speakers, the story is read from an English translation of the Quran so children can follow. The children are given the opportunity to explore the olden times, different prophets with similar message, ups and downs of life and moral lessons learnt.  They are also made to understand that there are more meaning in these stories and how they provide the guidelines to leading a healthy and prosperous life.

The session operates every Friday, Artarmon Musalah from 3.15-4.00pm in the ladies musalah where Asr prayers is prayed in jamaa followed by the lesson.  The class is free of charge and mothers are most welcome to attend.
